For nearly twelve years Flotronic 'One Nut' fast maintenance pumps have been working at the heart of the process at Fisher Research, manufacturers of industrial cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
Based in Enfield, Middlesex, Fisher Research Ltd offers a vast range of formulations of cleaning and maintenance chemicals. Established in 1988, their clients include national & local government, hospitals, rail & mass transit authorities, manufacturing plants and the food industry. They have a comprehensive laboratory facility to help develop customised products to suit specific customer’s needs.
Three pumps are in operation in their manufacturing area, 500 series polypropylene with PTFE elastomers. One 1½″ pump is used to transfer detergent based vehicle shampoos with viscosities around 1,000 cp. It has a flooded suction and 5 metre head with a flowrate of 4,500lts/hr. Two 2″ portable pumps are used to transfer very viscous gels, up to 100,000 cps from mixing tanks to 25/30 litre containers.
A fourth pump, 300 series aluminium with 1½" BSP connections circulates and transfers organic acid and solvents in their Silicon Digester at a rate of 25 lts/min. This has a flooded suction and a discharge head of 2 meters.
Steve Dickens – Production Manager comments "We like the fact that they are air powered, which is much safer in our environment. They are very easy to work on; basically they do what it says on the box – One-Nut fast maintenance! At my last company we used the old style figure of eight pumps, which took ages to strip and rebuild."
Flotronic offer a complete range of their unique 'One Nut' quick maintenance pumps, where diaphragm changes can be made in less than 10 minutes.
