That’s exactly what Celloglas, Leicester have done since installing four 'One Nut' fast maintenance double diaphragm pumps from Flotronic. Operating a 24/7 business reliability is crucial and the FPL pumps have certainly passed the test.
Celloglas are the UK’s leading decorative print finisher, their services include lamination, varnishing, textures, foil blocking and speciality products. You can find their coatings on greeting cards, point of sale items, sales brochures, magazines and many other printed items.
Celloglas has 21 business units around the UK, located close to major print centres to enable fast same day response to their customers.
Three of the Flotronic 300 Series aluminium pumps are used to transfer a range of UV varnishes from IBC’s to their various coating machines, having a suction lift of around 1.5 metres and pumping up to 6 metre head around a 150 metre circuit of 22mm diameter pipe. The viscosity can be between 200-300 centipoise at ambient temperature. A further 300 Series pump transfers PVA adhesive, also from an IBC with a similar suction lift, but only 60 metre run of 22mm pipe. The viscosity is around 100 centipoise.
The pumps can run dry for short periods, which is no problem for air operated double diaphragm pumps. Commenting, Keith Upjohn – Regional Manager "Since installing the Flotronic pumps we have forgotten about them. They have operated trouble free since being installed and run intermittently 24 hours per day and up 7 days a week."
Celloglas have been using Flotronic pumps for over five years at several of their sites. David Pickard – Group Engineering Manager "We like the design of the Flotronic pump; they have been very reliable so our spares usage has been minimal and they are so easy to maintain. We prefer the Flotronic pump for our recirculation duties, replacing older style pumps."
